Memphis 14 - Umass 10

The Tigers of Memphis capped off their undefeated season with a well earned victory over a game Umass team. Sabrina Swift, led all scorers with 8pts while Erin Crane, 4pts and Emma Woolshire, 2pts also played well offensively for the Tigers. Julie Shea and Jackie Pannenton each provided 4pts for Umass. Hannah Van de Staht also scored for the ladies of Umass.

College Boys

Texas 23 - Duke 20

Texas eaks past Duke in the college final, thanks mostly to John Crimble’s 17pts, and 6stls. Trace Schaejbe, Ethan Mercedes and Armando Lezama all scored 4pts and played great on defense for Duke. William McCarthy, 2pts also scored for Texas while Jeury Gonzalez chipped in with 4pts. Brian Moisan and Jack Viselli added 4pts apiece for the losing Blue Devils.

Sting 19 - Liberty 16

The Sting won the summer champioship on the strength of Julissa’s 10pts and 3stls. Maeve Harrington, had a strong game for the Liberty with 12pts and 4blks. Carly Theriault, 3pts and Christa Leger, 2pts both played well for the liberty along side Harrington. Maia and Lisa Hannable each had 4pts chipping in for their teams title.

Pistons 33 - Jazz 30

The Pistons surged late to steal the victory from the Jazz. Randy Valero, 14pts and Edwin Guzman 10pts, provided scoring punch to lead their Pistons. Marvin Baez, 14pts, and Danny Moya, 10pts, equalled Valero and Guzman to lead their teams in scoring. It came down to the role players and Shakir White provided the difference with 6pts, while Matt Coco added 4pts. Jonathon Morel had 4pts for the Jazz with Stephen White adding more 2pts.

Comets 28 - Sparks 18
Erin Fahey blasted the Comets past the Sparks with her 12pts an 8rebs. Fallon 6pts and Brenna 8pts kept the Sparks within striking distance but couldn’t get them overe the hump. Courtney Shearstone also played well for the Comets scoring 7pts.

Lynx 28 - Sting 8
The Lynx got great effort from their to garner their victory over the Sting. Alx Bryant dominated the paint with 11pts while Arlin Baez almost matched her output with 10pts. Ashley Espinal also played well for the Lynx with 6pts from inside.

Texas 40 - Duke 15
The Longhorns opened the season in impressive fashion with a 25 point victory over Duke. John Crimble, led the Horns in scoring with 13pt followed closely by big man Rory Cawley who owned the paint scoring 10pts with 7rebs. Armando Lezema, 11pts, scored nearly all of Dukes points with Pat Viselli chipping in with 2pts. Crimble and Cawley wern’t the only Texas players with nice games however, Rocco Geary, Jeury Batista and Connor Alexander all helped their team win with 4pts apiece. Not to mention Jack McCarthy’s twisting, over the head, one handed three pointer from 22 feet. William McCarthy also scored 2pts for Texas in the win.

Memphis 26 - Ohio State 21
The three-headed Memphis monster of Matt Muse, 8pts 4assts, Stephen Moutsoulas, 10pts 6rebs, and Tyler Thomas, 10pts, proved too strong for the Buckeyes to defeat. Austin Connelly, ran the show for Ohio State with 7pts and played strong defense on Muse. Juan Martinez, led the Buckeyes in scoring with 10pts.

Texas 26 - Uconn 22
Texas jumped out to a huge lead over the Huskies with a tremendous first half effort; supplied by Rory Cawley, 12pts and John Crimble, 8pts. The Huskies managed to get right back into the game late in the second half behind terrific defensive effort by all the Uconn players and ledd offensively by John Swasey and his 15pts to go along with 6pts from Tommy O’Hare’s sweet shooting.

In a hard fought contest between two evenly matched teams the Bruins of UCLA topped Syracuse. Brianna Rodriguez, scored 4pts with 3stls to lead her team past the Orange. Caylee Post also scored 4pts and Arianna Gaffney added 2 more points for the Bruins. Grace Cawley and Kelly Sweeney provided the points for Syracuse.

North Carolina 23 - Uconn 20

North Carolina eked out the win over Uconn in a double overtime thriller. Micaela Dionne and Maria Alfelle each scored 6pts for the Huskies in the loss. Olivia Comeau, 8pts, was the hero for NC with two steals and layups in the final minute of regulation to force the extra frame. Alexis Bedard, 4pts also played well for Uconn. Jessica Tassinieri, Cameron Connelly and Celina Noel all scored 4pts for the voctorious Tar Heels, while Shannon Parr’s free t hrow provided the winning basket for her team.

Memphis 26 - Umass 9

Memphis was led by their dynamic duo of Rachel Zipper and Sabrina Swift whom each had 8pts. Julie Shea played well scoring 4pts for UMASS, with Meghan Zipper chipping in with 2pts. Micala Thibault and Emma Woolshire both scored 4pts to help propel the Tigers over Umass.

The two teams that proved that they were the best all season met in the final game. Greg Speliotis had 17pts to lead his Celtics in scoring. Fernando owned the paint for the Spurs scoring 8pts and drawing fouls at will on the Celts’ Bigs. Danny Moya and James Baez, each scored 4pts for the Spurs. Ariel Almonte, was the second leading scorer for the Green with 6pts, with Chris VAille adding 4pts. The game was tight in second half so all the points mattered. Kelly Abreu, Dionil Abreu and Austin Shea contributed 2pts in the win. Robert Simard and Christian Almonte each scored 3pts for the Celtics; and Cody and Jared Farese scored 2pts. The hero of the game for the Spurs was Randy Valero, 17pts, who scored his last 2pts on a swishing baseline floater with 6 seconds remaining. That proved to be the winning basket when the Celtics couldn’t get the ball up the court.

North Carolina 37 - Duke 31

The Tar Heels completed the sweep, capturing both playoff and regular season titles. JT Kapnis, 12pts, led the Heels in the big game; but got plenty of support from Co-MVP’s Isaiah Hodges, 5pts and Austin Shea 6pts. Jared Louf-Woods, and Cael Schaejbe each scored 11pts accounting for most of Duke’s output. Mitchell Osgood, continued his good shooting hitting for 5pts in the NC win. Brian Lora, 3pts, Trace Schaejbe, 4pts and Jack Viselli 2pts were the additional scorers for Duke. Tyler thomas Zac Barnes and Tahmid Raji all scored 2pts contributing to the Heels championship victory.

Ashley Espinal, 14pts, led her team past the game Eagles to win the championship. Shyla Stokes, led the Eagles in scoring with 10pts. Robyn Hendry, Kendall Higgins, and Kelly McLuaghlin each scored 2pts in the BC loss. Brianna Rodriguez played great on ball defense and managed 6pts for her team in the win while Emma Woolshire added another 3pts for Umass.

In a nail-biting contest between two evenly matched teams; the Lynx powered by Marissa Garey’s 15pts came out on top. Fallon Burke led the Sparks in scoringwith 9pts while Brenna Burke chipped in 6pts for her team. Courtney maurice added 6pts for the champion Lynx while Carly Theriault, had 2pts for the Lynx. Alix Bryant played well for the Sparks with 4pts and tough defense.

Duke 22 - Georgetown 15

The Duke Blue Devils, continued their surprising run of knocking off top teams with a win over the Hoyas. Ryan Madden, led the devils with 7pts all coming in the second half; Trace Schaejbe, 4pts, also shot the ball well for Duke in the second half. FJ Murphy, was the big player for the Hoyas with 10pts, while Xavier Polanco and Robert Simard each scored 2pts. the rest of the scoring for the Devils came from many players with Kyle Doherty hitting a three pointer, to go along with Cael Schaejbe, Brian Lora, Jared Louf-Woods and Jack Viselli
whom all added 2pts.

North Carolina 29 - Michigan 15

#1 seed North Carolina, marches on to the championship game with a big win over the underdog Wolverines. Isaiah Hodges, 13pts, proved too much for the undersized Wolverines. Kelly Abreu, 7pts and Nathan Oscar, 4pts played very well in the loss. Tyler Thomas, 5pts and JT Kapnis, 4pts played pivotal roles for the Heels inside. Stephen Harris and Ryan Gauthier each scored 2pts for Michigan. Austin Shea played very good defensively and scored 3pts contributing to the win.

Celtics 38 - Knicks 33

The Knicks jumped out to an early lead, due largely to the strength of Nick Salamida, 7pts and Big Brian’s, 9pts, first quarter play. Sthalin Lopez shot the ball well hitting 2 three pointers for the Knicks in their Initial assault on the ‘Celts. The second quarter saw a resurgence of Green activity with Ariel Almonte, 15pts, leading the way. Marvin Baez was the top scorer for The Knicks with 12pts. Greg Speliotis, 11pts, Connor Reardon and Chris Vaille 4pts each also played good games in the Celtic win.

Spurs 62 - Lakers 34

In one of the all-time playoff routs in recent memory the Spurs dispelled any rumors of a late season upset by beating up on the veteran Lakers. Kelly Abreu, 15pts, went 5-5 from behind the arch in the first half to give his team all the cushion they required. Once Abreu sat down, the games top scorer Randy Valero, 19pts, took over and kept his foot on the gas in expanding the Spurs lead before the half. Troy Gilbert, 15pts, shot the ball well in defeat while Jeff Peras, 9pts and Nick Walsh, 6pts, provided the rest of the Lakers scoring. Fernando , 15pts and Danny Moya, 9pts were a strong force inside for the Spurs.

Boston College 16 - Tennessee 2

The Eagles of Boston College moved on to the Championship game with relative ease over the Cinderella Volunteers. Kelly McLaughlin led all scorers with 8pts for the Eagles, and Sarah Connelly played great inside with 5pts. Micaela Dionne scored the 2pts for Tennessee.

UMASS 12 - Duke 9

The Ladies of Umass squeaked by the #1 seed Devils of Duke behind the strong play of Ahley Espinal’s 8pts. Nicole Sadoway had breakout game for Duke with 8pts mostly breaking out in the open for easy baskets. Brianna Rodriguez, played very well for Umass with 2stls and 4pts. rachel Zipper also played well for the Blue Devils.

Lynx 22 - Rockers 14

Marissa Garey, scored 11pts for her Lynx while Carly Theriault, provided another 7pts. Ashley o’Keefe was unable to keep her scorching hand from the Opening round but still played well scoring 4pts. Crystal Garcia, 3pts and Hannah Wilkins, 2pts, playeda well for the Rockers. Vicky Njugana scored 4pts helping her team towards the championship game.

Sparks 28 - Sun 11

The great run of the Sun ended with a semifinal loss to the top seed Sparks. Alix Bryant, 10pts and Brenna Burke, 8pts were too strong a pair for the Sun. Ivelyse Arroyo, led the Sun in scoring with 8pts followed by Vanermi Figueroa, who scored 4pts accounting for the Sun’s totl output.

The Georgetown Hoyas, simply were too strong inside for the Friars. FJ Murphy scored 15pts with as many rebs in the win. Billy Muse was the leading scorer for Providence, with 13pts, Matt Muse scored 7pts. Gabriel Polanco led the perimeter attack for the Hoyas, with 11pts. Robert Simard also played well for Georgetown with 4pts.

Michigan 30 - UCLA 27

In an overtime thriller the wolverines came out on top. Kelly Abreu, scored 21pts, including a clutch three pointer to tie the game at the end of regulation and all his teams points in OT. to power his squad over the Bruins. Alex Smith had yeoman’s game for UCLA with 10pts closely followed by Shakir White with 8pts. Juan Encarnacion provided plenty of spark along side Abreu with 6pts. Helio neato played well for the Bruins scoring 6pts in the loss.

Duke 46 - Oregon 34

The Blue Devils arranged the oly upset of the evening with a stunning win over the #2 seeded Ducks. Jared Louf-Woods, 15pts, played great inside against the bigs for Oregon. Brian Lora, 12pts and Cael Schaejbe, 11pts provided much needed support for the Devils proppelling them onward to the Semifinals. Matt Marquez was the games high scorer with 17pts for Oregon; John Crimble also played well for the Ducks scoring 12pts. For Duke Ryan Madden played the point position well controlling the ball in the second half and scoring 5pts and Kyle Doherty drilled key three pointer in the second half to help seal the win.

North Carolina 22 - Syracuse 20

The #1 seed Tar Heels survived quite a scare from the Orangemen of Syracuse. Jefferson Akers, scored 11pts, with a three at the buzzer that put the game into the extra frame. The team of tar Heels were crafty enough to gain the victory with Isaiah Hodges, 6pts, and JT Kapnis, 8pts controlling the game with Tyler Thomas adding 4pts. Nathan Montero, also played a good game for the ‘Cuse. Austin Shea played very well in the late moments scoring 4pts.

Umass 20 - Villanova 19

In an overly exciting game between two evenly matched teams the Ladies of Umass came out on top, earning a spot in the semifinals. Ashley Espinal, 9pts, led all scorers with 9pts, but Erin Green, 6pts, chose the perfect spot to have her best game of the season. Katie LeFrancois, scored 4pts with Christa Leger chipping in for 6pts for the Wildcats. Julie Shea, 3pts, Abrielle Stevens, 2pts and Jackie Pannenton 2pts all played well for the ‘Cats. Other scorers for Umass were Emma Woolshire, 3pts, and Brianna Rodriguez, 2pts, played ferocious defense on the ‘Nova guards.

Tennessee 15 - Kentucky 11

The Volunteers outscored the Kentucky Wildcats 4-0 in overtime to clinch the victory and advance. Alexandria Bozarjian, 6pts led the Vols in scoring with Micaela Dionne putting in another 4pts. Mirlene Sanchez, 4pts, and Nicole LaPointe, 5pts, had a nice game inside for Kentucky; who forced the extra frame when Jessica Tassinieri scored a breakaway lay-up in the games final seconds. Chloe Dragon, and Cynthia Garcia each scored 2pts providing the margin in their win.

Sun 44 - Liberty 17

The Sun routed the Liberty thanks to the spectacular shooting of April Hannable, 18pts.
Ivelyse Arroyo, scored 12pts helping her team towards the win. Maria Rodriguez, supplied most of the Liberty’s output with 10pts, while Jonalis Morel, 4pts, also played well for her team. Vanermi Figeuroa, had 8pts on all fast break lay-ups with Rachel Zipper adding another 2pts. Shannon Tucker, 2pts also scored for the Liberty.

Rockers 34 - Shock 31

It was certainly Ashley O’Keefe’s night, scoring 24pts by hitting shots from every angle and distance. Hannah Wilkins, 6pts, provided the added scoring for The Rockers. Courtney Shearstone, led the Shock with 12pts. Crystal Stepnick, 6pts, was force inside for her Shock.

College Boys Division - Opening Round

Duke 38 - Boston College 28

The Blue Devils advanced to the Quarterfinals with big victory over the Eagles. Brian Lora had 16pts off the bench for Duke, shooting 3-4 from the stripe and hitting a late three to ice the game. Jonathon Swasey scored 18 of his teams points in the loss capping a good season. Jared Louf-Woods dominated the paint with 10pts; while Cael Schaejbe was impressive with 12pts.

Syracuse 56 - Indiana 45

The Syracuse Orangemen outlasted the Hoosiers in one of the highest scoring games in recent memory. Jefferson Akers led all scorers with 22pts leading the way to a win and quarterfinal match-up with the top-seeded Tar Heels. Anthony Harris, 21pts and his counterpart Aidan Scrimgeour, 19pts, played tremendously for Indiana but couldn’t quite produce enough to overcome The Orange’s team play. Nathan Montero, 14pts and Chris Matton, 11pts exemplified that team effort. While Yusben and Yadonis combined for 10pts in the Syracuse win and Andrew MacNichol had a great game defensively with his 4pts.

Lakers 39 - Jazz 38

The interior strength of The Lakers’ Jeff Peras, 16pts, was just too much for the Dead Eye shooting of the Jazz. Kyle Gauthier, 10pts, drilled 3 three-pointers for the Jazz with Junior nailing another 2 three’s. Troy Gilbert, 8pts, and Alvin Rodriguez, 6pts, provide plenty of support in the Lakers win giving them a shot at the Semifinal against the Spurs. Mike Daly also played very well with well timed jump shots and pesky defense. Steven “Figgy’ Cruz scored 6pts and held down the Lakers guards on D, with Jefferson Akers scoring 5pts.

Knicks 48 - Magic 36

The Knicks shot the ball extremely well in their first round matchup against the Magic. Nick Salamida, 8pts, got the Knickerbockers off to a quick start; and Marvin Baez finished the deal with 16pts, including 9pts on 3 three-pointers in the 3rd quarter. Jesse Williams, 10pts, and Emilio Beato, 9pts, were the leading scorers; to go along with Ben Kapnis, 8pts, the final 3pts coming on a 35 foot jumper with about 25 seconds to go, and JonathonMorel who had 6pts. Christian Dunston played well offensively with 9pts, setting up a semifinal matchup with the #1 Celtics.

The Orange were all red in the face after a dissapointing loss to Michigain. Kelly Abreu led the attack for the Woverines while Stephen Harris gave strong support. Jefferson Akers played well for the ‘Cuse along with Chris Matton.

Oregon 35 - Georgetown 29

Matt Marquez, 16pts made a strong return for the Ducks after missing the last few contests. Fj Murphy powered the opposition with 12pts and as many rebounds. John Crimble, had 9pts for Oregon to aide in their victory. Robert Simard and Brian Mosian scored 4pts each for the Hoyas.

North Carolina 27 - UCLA 22

North Carolina, having already secured it’s place at the top of the standings, took no risk of takingh their foot off the gas by dispatching UCLA by 5pts. Austin Shea scored 6pts, Isaiah Hodges 2pts, Mitchell Osgood continued his nice shooting with 3pts and JT Kapnis banged his way to 2pts for the Heels. Alex Smith le dthe Bruins with 6pts.

Duke 38 - Boston College 34

Cael Schaejbe, led the Devils to a win with 10pts followed by Jared Louf-Woods with 8pts. Jeury erupted for 9pts for the Eagles, while Jonathon Swasey adding 4pts. Trace Schaejbe added 6pts for Duke with Brian Lora contributing another 4pts.
