College Boys - Quarterfinals, March 19
Georgetown 34 - Providence 23
The Georgetown Hoyas, simply were too strong inside for the Friars. FJ Murphy scored 15pts with as many rebs in the win. Billy Muse was the leading scorer for Providence, with 13pts, Matt Muse scored 7pts. Gabriel Polanco led the perimeter attack for the Hoyas, with 11pts. Robert Simard also played well for Georgetown with 4pts.
Michigan 30 - UCLA 27
In an overtime thriller the wolverines came out on top. Kelly Abreu, scored 21pts, including a clutch three pointer to tie the game at the end of regulation and all his teams points in OT. to power his squad over the Bruins. Alex Smith had yeoman’s game for UCLA with 10pts closely followed by Shakir White with 8pts. Juan Encarnacion provided plenty of spark along side Abreu with 6pts. Helio neato played well for the Bruins scoring 6pts in the loss.
Duke 46 - Oregon 34
The Blue Devils arranged the oly upset of the evening with a stunning win over the #2 seeded Ducks. Jared Louf-Woods, 15pts, played great inside against the bigs for Oregon. Brian Lora, 12pts and Cael Schaejbe, 11pts provided much needed support for the Devils proppelling them onward to the Semifinals. Matt Marquez was the games high scorer with 17pts for Oregon; John Crimble also played well for the Ducks scoring 12pts. For Duke Ryan Madden played the point position well controlling the ball in the second half and scoring 5pts and Kyle Doherty drilled key three pointer in the second half to help seal the win.
North Carolina 22 - Syracuse 20
The #1 seed Tar Heels survived quite a scare from the Orangemen of Syracuse. Jefferson Akers, scored 11pts, with a three at the buzzer that put the game into the extra frame. The team of tar Heels were crafty enough to gain the victory with Isaiah Hodges, 6pts, and JT Kapnis, 8pts controlling the game with Tyler Thomas adding 4pts. Nathan Montero, also played a good game for the ‘Cuse. Austin Shea played very well in the late moments scoring 4pts.
