College Boys - Dec. 5

Michigan 30 - Duke 25

Kelly Abreu netted 20pts to lead the Wolverines to victory over Duke. Jared Louf-Woods, 8pts, and Cael Shaejbe, 6pts, were the forces for the Blue Devils along with Bryan Lora’s, 5pts. Ryan Gauthier also scored, 2pts for Michigan.

Oregon 34 - Boston College 27

Matt Marquez absolutley dominated this game scoring, 18pts, and grabbing 10reb. John Crimble was his outsde sidekick scoring 8pts and providing much of the passes that led to Marquez’ scoring. Johnathon Swasey, 13pts, and Adam Maggicamo, 7pts led the Eagles. The Eagles’ Peter O’Donnell scored 3pts and Connor Duncan managed 2pts. Steven Moutsoulas was an effective player inside for the Ducks with 7pts.

UCLA 25 - Indiana 17

Shakir “Shakey” White, walked through the Hoosiers defense for 12 easy pts, while Melvin Guzman and Alex Smith, 4pts each, played well in backup roles. Aidan Scrimgeour was the man for Indiana with 9pts and some good defense. Brandon Dziadyk, scored 6pts for the losing team.

North Carolina 25 - Georgetown 22

The Tar Heels stayed perfect with a 3 point victory over the Hoyas. Isaiah Hodge scored 13 of his teams 25 pts and played tough inside. Xavier scored 12pts, and had 4 steals for the Hoyas. Robert Simard played a great game scoring 8pts in the loss. Mitchell Osgood made a few crucial plays for his team to help them towards a win.

Syracuse 42 - Providence 35

In a defenseless high scoring affair the Orangemen beat the Friars. Jefferson Akers went off for, 22pts, 10reb and 4blk. While Billy Muse tried to keep pace for Providence with 18pts. Matt Muse scored, 12pts, and Jake MacFarlane got 2pts in the Fiars loss. Nathan Montero and Matt MacNichol each scored 6pts for the Orange.

College Girls - December 4

Umass 20 - Villanova 18

Villanova jumped to a large lead with excellent inside scoring from Christa Leger, 8pts, and Jackie Pannenton 6pts. In the second half the game belonged to Ashley Espinal 14pts. Brianna Rodriguez had 4pts for her Umass squad. Abriella Stevens and Madison also scored for the Wildcats.

Duke 10 - Boston College 9

Rachel Zipper scored a game high 6pts leading Duke to the only undefeated record left in the college division. Shyla Stokes, 3pts, and Kelly McLaughlin, 2pts, each scored for the Eagles but Sydney Hannaford led the team with 4. Cassandra Haude and Nicole Sadoway had 2pts each to combine for the win.

Tennesse 15 - Kentucky 10

Alexandrea Bozarjian, fueled her teams win with 6 tough points inside. Jessica Tassinieri, 6pts, and Mirlene Sanchez, 4pts, combined for the whole Kentucky output. The Vols spread it around with Cynthia Garcia, 4pts, Cody Homan,4pts, and Villory Rijker, 3pts, all scorin multiple buckets.

Jazz 35 - Lakers 17

The Jazz jumped out to a huge lead and never let up on the Lakers. Steven Figie and Taylor Norris each scored 9pts for the Jazz. Lakers Center Jeff Peras, 10 pts, provided much of the scoring for his team with Troy Gilbert and Nick Walsh each chipping in with 4 and 3pts respectively. Elijah played great perimeter defense and had 4pts, to go along with Jefferson Akers’, 5pts and standout D in the paint helped shut down the Lakers show.

Knicks 43 - Magic 33

The Knicks continued their stellar play with a ten point win over the Magic. marvin Baez and Brendan Broderick each scored 10pts for the Knicks. Jesse Williams hit nearly everthing he shot scoring 15pts in the loss for his Magic. Williams got help from Jonathon Morel, 8pts, and Ben Kapnis who scored 4pts and was the facilitator of many hoops Williams scored. Christian Dunston and Nick Salamida each had 8 pts and had good defensive games.

Celtics 45 - Spurs 39

The Celtics played Impeccably in the first half behind the play of Greg Speliotis, 18pts, and Center Chris Vaille who owned the glass and scored 9pts. Anthony Harris and Connor Reardon combined for 11pts in the Celtics win. The Spurs made a mighty surge in the second half, with Randy Valero’s 20 points, including 5 threepointers(4 in 2nd half) leading the way. Kelly and Dionil Abreu each scored 5pts for the Spurs.

SALEM GIRLS TEAM’S SWEEP VISITORS!

The 6th grade team led by Alix Bryant, who scored 8pts and played tremendously inside, beat Danvers 17-7. Brenna Burke was a Hawk on Defense with 6pts mostly off of turnovers. The 7th grade girls started the Season off with a big win over a good Brookline team 24-13. Eight out of Fourteen players scored for the 7th graders with Taylor Cullinane leading the way with 6pts, and Ivalise Arroyo scoring 4. For the 8th graders the game was a little tougher. Ashley O’Keefe and Marissa Garey each had 8pts, and Holbrook Phelan 6, to lead the veteran squad to a win against Gloucester. Outside shooting from Maria Rodriguez, 3-pointer, and Macaela Gaffney, 4pts, also helped propel their team to victory.
It wasn’t such a good day for the Boys however. The seventh grade team got beat decisively by Lynn, 56-44; in large part due to their inability to make shots and get back on defense. Chronic Hacking also doomed the 7th graders who had more fouls called on them than shots made, 24 fouls called to 16 field goals, as a result the Lynn team shot 28 free throws to Salem’s 4. Their were some bright spots for the seventh grade who gained the lead with strong play at the outset of each half. Christian Dunston had a game-high, 14pts and 4 stls, while Jefferson Akers grabbed 7 rebs. Marvin Baez, 7pts, along with Brendan Broderick, Danny Moya and Nick Salamida all played well on both ends.
In the boys eight grade game, Lynn surged in the second half to seal their win, 40-13. Randy Valero drilled a 3-pointer early in the first and finsihed with 5pts to lead the Witches. Jorge, 4pts, Steven Figie and Brion Likaj each had 2pts to round out the scoring.

Rockers 22 - Shock 14

Ashley O’Keefe, 14pts supplied most of the offense for the Rockers as they defeat the Shock in first game of the season. Crystal Stepnick was tops for the Shock with 6pts, joined by Courtney Shearstone, Kayleigh Krajeski, Kayla Howard and Arlin Baez who all managed 2pts apiece. Crystal Garcia and Hannah Wilkins supplied 4pts for the victors.

Lynx 26 - Sun 12

The Lynx got off to a hot start thanks to Marissa Garey, 14pts, Courtney Maurice and Carly Theriault, 4pts each. Vanermi Figueroa and April Hannable combined for 8 of their teams 12pts, with the other four coming from Celine Morneau and Courtney Carrick.

Sparks 23 - Liberty 12

Maria Rodriguez, 10pts, stood out for the losing Liberty. But Alix Bryant, 12pts, and the Burke Sisters, Fallon and Brenna combined for 9pts powering the Sparks past their opponents. Lydia White rounded out the scoring for the Sparks.
