#4 Kentucky 28 - #5 UCONN 27
In the most closely contested game of the night the Wildcats outlasted the Huskies. Brendan Broderick led his team to a victory with 15 pts, 8 rebs and 5 steals including one in the last ten seconds to clinch the game. Ben Kapnis was the top man for UCONN with 14 pts and 9 rebs, Cael Schaejbe chipped in 10 pts along side Kapnis. Connor Reardon also played well for Kentucky with 9 pts, 8 rebs, 3 stls and one big block.
#3 Georgetown 37 - #6 UNLV 32
Salamida runs too much for the Rebels. Nick Salamida scored 31 pts and pulled down 7 rebs in leading his team past UNLV. Christian Almonte, 15 pts, and Isaih Giaff-Hodge, 9 pts 5 rebs, were the sparks for the Rebels. Austin Shea, John Swasey and Cameron Frasier also scored for the Hoyas.
#2 Boston College 35 - #7 Texas 28
“Chadillac” Coehlo lit it up from the outside scoring 18 pts to advance his team through to the second round of the playoffs. Shakir White helped out Coehlo with 8 pts, 4 rebs and 2 stls. Billy Muse did it all for the Longhorns, scoring 22 pts, 7 rebs, 4 stls and 1 blk; brother Matt added 4 pts his team.
#1 UCLA 35 - #8 Ohio State 21
The top seeded Bruins got all that they could handle from the surprising Buckeyes. Jefferson Akers was the leading scorer for OSU with 7 pts, with 9 rebs and 4 blks; Nathan “the microwave” Montero and Mike Daly each had 4 pts. However Marvin Baez had 25 pts, 5 rebs, 4 stls, 3 assts and 1 blk, and refused to let his squad lose to the amped up buckeyes. John Krimble also played well for the Bruins. Nick Botichelli scored one bucket for the losers, and FJ Murphy scored one for the winners.
